Electricity generation by source — EU-27, 2024

Each panel is its own bar chart with a shared 0–100% scale, so — unlike a stacked bar — every country is directly comparable on every source, not just the first one.

Source: Eurostat, gross electricity production by fuel (nrg_ind_peh / nrg_ind_pehcf), 2024 — the latest complete annual data. Dotted marker = EU-27 weighted average.

Why this replaces a stacked bar: in a stacked bar, only the first segment shares a common zero baseline across every row — that’s why “fossil fuels” reads cleanly in the original chart. Every segment after it starts wherever the previous one ended, so wind, hydro, solar, nuclear and biofuels can’t be compared row-to-row. Splitting each source into its own zero-baselined panel fixes that for all seven at once.
Fossil = coal, oil & natural gas (incl. non-renewable waste). Biofuels = solid biofuels, biogas & renewable waste. Other = geothermal, tide/wave, ambient heat & small residuals. Hydro excludes pumped-storage output. Shares are of gross electricity generation and may not sum to exactly 100% due to Eurostat rounding.
